MTI implements contingency plans following SunGard UK’s insolvency announcement
MTI Technology, a global provider of IT services and solutions, has confirmed that it is in discussion with SunGard and its administrators following the news that the company was placed into administration. MTI said that it is focused on ensuring the uninterrupted supply of services to all customers affected, and is in discussions with the administrators about continuity of service across a variety of scenarios. In addition, MTI has reviewed the preparedness of pre-agreed contingency plans in the case of supply chain failure. The focus of these plans is to ensure minimal impact to customers.
While SunGard provides IT solutions in the areas of business continuity, disaster recovery, cloud, consulting, data centre & colocation services it has been hit hard by the recent increases in global power supply costs. Due to their business model, SunGard was unable to absorb all of these cost increases and the business looks to have become untenable in its current form.
On the 28th of March MTI was made aware that the directors of SunGard UK had requested for the business to be placed into administration. They confirmed while business operations will continue as normal, a buyer is being sought.
Ben Cranham, MTI’s COO said “MTI has a number of customers that use SunGard for elements of their infrastructure and we are taking all the necessary steps to provide support to customers affected by this news. We have classed this as ‘Major Event’ to ensure it has the highest priority for our internal teams and that we quickly establish how to achieve the best outcomes for our customers.”
